What to drink when it’s cold outside?

Do you ever wonder if drinking juice is a good idea during winter? When it’s cold outside there’s actually no need to worry about consuming them. In fact, drinking juice can be a helpful way to ensure the body gets optimum nutrition during the most challenging time of year. The key here is to make it a spicy green juice that contains warming herbs to help to boost circulation.

It’s important to note that all juices are not the same, however, as many contain high amounts of hidden sugars (think: orange, mango, commercial cranberry varieties etc) which can give rise to a host of issues. For example, a regular morning glass of orange juice can de-stabilise blood sugar, suppress immunity and feed the ‘nasties’ in  the lower GI tract. Therefore, it’s important to make sure that juices are low in sugar content; all green vegetable juices are key.

The benefits of green vegetable juicing are numerous. Regular consumption helps to alkalise to the body, help build healthy red blood cells, stabilise blood sugar and much more. In fact, in many leading clinics juicing is considered to be paramount during bodily detoxification. They’re also recommended for health maintenance.

It may be worth considering investing in a good quality cold pressed juicer. This will ensure that all of the nutrients – especially the living enzymes – are left intact. And the juice will not be heated up as it would be in a conventional juicing machine.
